5050
Founded in just 2022, this grassroot initiative, working on a minimal budget with maximum strategy, 5050 has begun to change the numbers toward reaching gender parity in: national political parties, City and Regional Councils of local government, National Prizes, TV News Commentators and more…
And we have just started!
Inspired by Ruth Bader Ginsberg's rulings and the change in countries that reached Gender Parity like Uganda, Finland, Australia and more: Gender equality is a winning ticket for society. It has proven to attract more voters, more candidates, more balance for all.
Why is it important to have 50% women in all decision-making arenas in Israel?
5050 is good for everybody!
Gender-balanced leadership leads to better decisions and stronger governance.
This is already proven worldwide: countries with more equal representation make better decisions.
5050 is smart!
Only 6 of 33 current government ministers are women, and just 25% of Knesset members are women.
When half the population isn’t at the table, millions are overlooked. More women in desicion-making means less corruption, greater trust, and stronger, more inclusive leadership.
5050 is fair!
Women make up 50% of the population, therefore it is only fair and reasonable that they hold 50% of the positions in decisions-making arenas.
Our roadmap to 5050!
1
A clear, bold vision
We are committed to advancing a clear, measurable goal: 5050 in all decision-making arenas.
2
Women - men partnership
Gender equality concerns us all. Together, we are building a better, more equal future for our children.
3
Consistent public pressure
Change begins with grassroot action, action on social media, and in the media. Every post, every question, every signature - adds up to a public demand that cannot be ignored.
4
Fundamental systemic change
We’re here to change the rules of the game: driving policy and systemic change to ensure lasting gender equality in government and across society.

Who are we?
The organization was founded by social activist Yael Yechieli out of the recognition that gender equality in Israel is not only failing to advance "naturally", rather it is in fact, regressing.
What began as the voice of a single woman has attracted thousands of people and has shifted public consciousness.
Over time, the concept of 5050 has become a standard in public conversation, and it is changing the rules of the game in both local and national politics.
In 2025, the 5050 initiative joined the Centers for Social Justice.
Yechieli hopes to "retire" this initiative as it achieves the reachable goals and objectives.

Public Pressure works, our proven successes:
5050 is not just talk, it is real change in practice.
Thanks to our activists, supporters and collective public pressure,
we have shown that 5050 is possible.
